I was diagnosed with a mild depression that I just couldn’t seem to shake. My therapist recommended that I take anti-depressants (SSRI’s) but I knew that needed to be a last resort for me. When I phoned Elie, she said that acupuncture can help alleviate depression so I made the appointment. The day after my first treatment I already could feel the gloom start to lift and I had a sense of contentment that I hadn’t had in a long time. I’ve now had several appointments and I’m so pleased to report that I am no longer depressed and that my thoughts aren’t getting stuck in that dark spiral anymore.
I was first diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis in 2009. My lifelong goal is to continue what I enjoy best; living a healthy, active lifestyle. Clinically, from a medical perspective my prognosis is great, yet I continued to struggle with chronic pain. Following a breast cancer diagnosis in 2011, I started chemotherapy treatments at a local “state of the art” cancer research facility. Early into my treatment I recognized that supportive health care is not a part of traditional cancer treatment. With my body under assault from chemo, I knew I had to do something to balance the harsh effects. I began acupuncture therapy with Elie on a regular basis. After acupuncture treatments I consistently noticed a dramatic decrease in muscle pain, nausea, fatigue, and the neurotoxicity of chemo.
